Yuki Tsunoda has expressed his frustration with the uncertainty surrounding his future in Formula 1, particularly with Red Bull’s driver line-up for 2025. The 24-year-old Japanese driver has stated that he cannot continue to “rely” on the Milton Keynes team, especially as they delay making a decision on whether to part ways with Sergio Perez. Tsunoda feels that the team’s intentions are unclear, and even if Perez is replaced, it is more likely that Liam Lawson, despite having less experience, will be chosen to partner with Max Verstappen. This situation leaves Tsunoda uncertain about his own long-term prospects with the team.

Tsunoda also voiced concerns about his future with Honda, which has provided significant financial support, as the manufacturer is set to leave Red Bull for Aston Martin at the end of 2024. When asked about the situation, Tsunoda admitted, “To be honest, it’s not really clear.” He continued, stating that he could be part of the team in 2026 but isn’t sure what direction Red Bull wants to take. Despite the uncertainty, Tsunoda emphasized that he cannot afford to keep relying on Red Bull. He added that while he is not urgently searching for other options, he recognizes the importance of securing opportunities for his future. Tsunoda remains hopeful, though, as he is not in a dire situation and will wait to see what happens next season.

As the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix approaches, Tsunoda feels confident about his performances this season and believes he deserves a chance to prove himself alongside Verstappen. “What I’ve done this year, it’s quite clear that I should get a chance,” he insisted. However, he acknowledged that Formula 1 is as much about politics as it is about racing, and ultimately, the decision lies with Red Bull. When asked about communication with team bosses Christian Horner and Helmut Marko, Tsunoda revealed that they don’t talk much but mentioned that Horner had told him, “I’ll keep an eye on you,” leaving some hope for the future.
